St. Michael's Cave will host Gibraltar World Music Festival

CONCERT IN THE CAVE

13 JUNE 2019

Groove under the stalactites to offbeat world music rhythms in the spectacular setting of St. Michael’s Cave. This year’s Concert in the Cave is themed Out of Chaos and will bring together performers from eastern Europe and the Middle East to interpret the compositions of top Balkan composer and recording artist Goran Bregović

A Bregović piece can be recognised on the very first hearing and seems to address the whole Earth with no distinction of race, sex, age or religion.

With a career spanning five decades, the world music legend comes to Gibraltar hot from the Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, bringing with him 20 top artists from neighbouring eastern bloc countries.

The concert stage will also be shared by Diwan Saz, an ensemble of musicians from Israel, Palestine, Iran, Turkey and Syria whose deeply spiritual contemporary sounds draw from traditional music of the past to provoke a feeling of healing and liberation. The band has performed in many festivals around the world and in all kinds ofvenues - from New York to India and from a mosque to a synagogue.
